Confirmation of Payee
Confirmation of Payee is a service offering a new layer of protection to help protect you from fraud, scams, and mistaken payments. It is an initiative of Australian Payments Plus, the same organisation that also provides trusted payment services like BPAY, Osko, EFTPOS, PayID and PayTo.
How it works
When you send someone money, the service checks whether the account details you have entered, such as the name, BSB, and account number, match the information held by the recipient’s bank.
The result of the comparison will be displayed, helping you to confirm if you’re paying the person or business you’re wanting to, and want to go ahead with the payment.

Match
The details you've entered match the bank records of the intended recipient.
Close match
The details you've entered closely match the bank records of the intended recipient.
No match
The details you've entered do not match the bank records of the intended recipient.
Error
The service could not confirm if the account details you've entered match.

Confirmation of Payee is expected to be available for outbound payments through BankVic in October 2025.
