International Women's Day (IWD), a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and is recognised on 8 March each year.

This year the theme of #ChooseToChallenge means a challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

To recognise and celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, we held a virtual event where guest speakers shared their thoughts on the theme. The event was hosted by our Chair, Lucinda Nolan, and we were honoured to have Debra Abbott APM, Deputy Commissioner, Emergency Management Victoria; Faith Page, BankVic Director; and, Michelle Arundel, Chief People & Culture Officer, BankVic take part.

We were also pleased to be the Corporate Principal Partner of The Royal Women’s Hospital International Women’s Day virtual event on Thursday 4 March. With the theme ‘Healthy women, healthy world: transforming lives at the Women’s’, our people attended to hear from inspirational speakers, including Rosie Batty AO, Dr Paddy Moore, Associate Professor Kate Stern and Dr Sue Matthews.
