BankVic is deeply saddened by the loss of a key figure in our history, Lionel Allemand OAM.

Lionel had a long and distinguished Police career that spanned nearly 40 years - from serving as a Police Association of Victoria Director from 1972 to 1990 including being the President from 1979-1981, and co-founding the Tynan Eyre Committee (now the Blue Ribbon Foundation).

Lionel was also instrumental in the founding of the Police Credit Co-Operative (now BankVic) in 1974 and went on to serve as a Director from 1986 to 2013, including 16 years as Chairman.  Lionel also served as Mayor and Councillor of the City of Doncaster and Templestowe and Manningham City Council.

For his life-long services to the community, Lionel was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2017.  The BankVic team is saddened by this news and pass our sincerest condolences to the Allemand family.
